I've had my 08 Passion for 17 months and about 2 weeks after I got it home (about 250 miles & over a mountain pass from the dealership) the engine light came on. Smart sent a flatbed tow truck, took it to dealer, fixed problem [fuel valve sensor, sensor replaced, no charge] and brought it home.
Battery died after 3 days parked in 20* weather. When it was jumped to start, transmission was gone. (anybody seen the 3 lines of death in the dash where the 'P' should be?) Smart again sent tow & took it over pass to dealer, who was a little pissed because it could have been fixed here. Easy fix, even I know how to do it now!! Again, NO CHARGE.
At about a year old the engine light went on. Took it to Auto Zone & they read the code. Was a valve. Dealer mailed me the valve, I replaced it & mailed back the faulty one--no charge.
At the 1 yr service they upgraded tranny & battery so death in cold weather should not be an issue again. No charge for that part of service.
It is currently at the dealership because my panoramic roof has/had the spiderweb crazing all over it. My CD player (upgrade-6 disc changer) occasionally refused to spit out my CD's (maybe Maxie really liked the music?). Replaced the entire panoramic roof and the CD player at no charge,
and gave me an 09 Brabus loaner (no charge) to drive from Thursday when I dropped it off till Monday when I can pick it up.
Some of you in this thread seem to be having some serious quality issues from your local dealerships! If it takes 3 weeks to replace a part under warranty & your dealer is refusing to give you a no charge loaner, I'd be calling Smart/Penske!
