adding lights

The wife is trying to arrange putting my Smart and another Smart (identical cars) in a parade to advertise our respective stores. The parade is at night so they need to be lit up. Anyone have any experiences with attaching say christmas lights? The cars are both Black so I'm thinking bleck electrical tape or ?? with a 12-110 converter in the 12v acessory socket. Open to suggestions.

I thought Smarties would be a good choice for candy to toss but I was told no candy throwing...

It could be like the Electric Light parade that Disney used to have. There are some Christmas lights that are battery operated but your idea sounds better. I had my little car in a memory day parade and used tape to hold the sign on. It did not leave any marks on the panel (none that I noticed). It would be nice to see photos once it is done.

Oh, how cool!

You could get a couple of strands of those mini-lights that have the scrolling or marquee effects and run them off the 12-110v converter. Probably could do the whole car with only one or two strands. . . I'd love to see something like that~!
Oh, and maybe some flouresent lights under the car, too. Too cool~!
Good luck and tell/show us what you do.

I did that once and burned out my little converter. They make bigger ones that look like stereo amps. I would do that with a strip and lay it in the back. Use black duct tape, the electrical tape tends to fall off in humid weather. You can use goo gone to get off the junk it leaves behind or rubbing alcohol but I dont know what the alcohol would do the panels. If you want to put a sign on your car, try double sided tape from lowes. Its in the tape are and its thicker than regular tape.

Great ideas!! keep them comming. The parade is the day after Thanksgiving and it is geared towards the start of the Christmas season. They turn on all the holiday lights downtown at once and it has gotten to be a pretty big show. it has been listed as one of the top 10 things to do in Minnesota.

I do have a pretty large inverter and I usually run it off an external battery. I'll probably need a SCOA logo on there somewhere too.

There wil most definatly be pictures.

I bought a 400 watt converter for my camper van, and it was only around $40. That would power up quite a few lights, but if it were me, Costco and Wal-Mart sells the new miniature LED Christmas lights that are really low wattage, lightweight, and DON'T produce ANY heat! That's what I would go with! You could probably get away with an even smaller converter with the LED lights! I'm actually thinking of doing the same thing with my car!

What about the new LED rope you can get. That would be more modern ( forward thinking) than old fashion mini lights.
