Right, and there was another discussion about an add on applique to better see traffic lights. She's small, and to each his (or her) own to cope to get the best ride and experience possible!

Additional side mirrors are for pansies! Fuggetaboutit. They've already solved this problem in Europe with the smart car CCTV periscope!

Now that's what I'm talking about!

Adjusting Your Mirrors Correctly - Smart Motorist

Adjusting the mirrors downward helps... and using power mirrors to tilt down when backing in a space if needed helps.

One of the first things I learned to do when driving a bus was to learn how not to rely on your mirrors - it has sort of stuck with me. That being said, if the advice on the above linked page is followed - these stick on mirrors are rendred obsolete.

I have a different take on this. During summer break from college I drove a 7up truck in Atlantic City. I was always told to trust the mirrors and, for sure, you had to because not to meant you had to lean out of the cab with the door open. I had one problem tho. A cop parked his motorcycle directly behind my truck and I started to go in reverse. He came flying out of a store just in the neck of time. But you're right - proper mirror adjustment should take care of most probs plus using your own X-ray vision.
I'll digress here. I rounded a turn too fast in my above truck and lost a good bit of my load onto the road. Remember those little 7-up 7oz bottles. Indestructible. I lost only a few.

Test drove a Lexus a few months ago; when you put it in reverse the two door mirrors did this automatically. smart figured out how to link the rear wiper to reverse, they should be able to do the same with the outside mirrors.

I've driven Cadillacs with this feature and absolutely hated it. I can get use to where the right or left side of my car is, Mirrors help to see what's behind me. Just my $.02
