Adopted an Orphan!

Just drove down to the Sarasota dealer, expecting to only test drive. But we ended up putting a down payment on an available orphan! It wasn't my first color choice but it definitely beats having to wait a year to see my car!

We pick it up on Monday, It's a red Passion with a black Tridion and red interior. I'll post some pictures soon.

I would recommend to any reservation holder, to GET ON AN ORPHAN LIST! Unless you’re expecting your car in the near future.

Did they force you to take dealer add-ons? I had the opportunity to get an orphan a day or two ago, yet the dealer didn't play nice and had added several thousands of dollars worth of extras on a base Passion. And then there were a lot of other issues with the deal beyond just the add-ons, but I've already written about that...anyway, let me know how Florida dealers are treating their customers. I may just get friends and family to add the orphan list down there. I need to figure out how they determine financing and the rates. I have asked several dealers in my area and nobody tells.

Congratulations though on your Smart!!!

2009Aveo5, I'm actually not sure. My Dad handled all that stuff(I'm only 16). I can try to find out for you though.

Here's a picture...

Honestly, it was just pure luck. We had only been on the Orphan List for a day, and someone else was ahead of us but they never called Smart back. I still highly recommend the orphan list though.

Thanks! I definitely will, and I'll get some more pictures up sometime this week.

My orphan is identical. It wasn't my first choice color from the website but I really wanted the car sooner. I think some people get turned off by the orange/red at first when they see it, because they were expecting a true red, but this color inside and out is a real head turner and I love it. Way to go!

We purchased our orphan this afternoon from MB of Winston Salem. It was exactly the same as we ordered about 5 weeks ago. The transaction was very smooth, no pressure for any extras, the costs were exactly as quoted and it was about as uneventful as you can get.

The only snag, we could not bring it home becuase they forgot to mount the rear plate on Friday and the Service Dept was not in on Saturday (they did try to get someone in, but was not successful). Neither I or the dealer were thrilled about drilling into the rear tailgate. They will mount the plate on Monday and deliver the car to our home some thirty miles away.

Overall I was extremely impressed with MB of Winston Salem and would highly recommend them. By the way, they estimate 20 cars delivered over the past four weeks through the Winston dealership.

By the way, the document fees were $389 just as they are on the MB products and it is clearly posted throughout the dealership.

Yeah, I am getting an orphan as well. I was looking to get the yellow and black passion with a couple of options but they offered me a blue with black and all the options, so I took it. I can always switch the panels.

There were no added or mysterious option cost. Now I have to wait until I am back in town to pick it up.

I bought an orphan in sarasota also ,I origanally wanted the bumble bee color ,pasion coupe in yellow with black tridion , I emailed the salesman Josh on Saturday feb 16 mid afternoon, got a responce back by 5pm that day he had a car with everything I wanted but it was silver with silver tridion ,tried to call him back ,the dealer was closed,I called at 8am monday morning telling him I'd take the car ,gave him a credit card for a depost ,I drove down after work on the 20th ,and picked my new orphan up ,no dealer add ons what so ever ,and they didn't try to sell any extra's ,only thing was florida's higher than average doc fee ( 489.00)
