On the passing thing.....I live in a rural area. The main road is a 2 lane (one lane each direction). It's 45 miles to town through wilderness. When I drive my Chrysler Concorde at the posted 55 mph few people pass me. When I drive the Smart and because no cruise control I tend to drive 50-65 EVERYONE passes me!! I really think there is something psychological to folks 'not following that little car' mind set. Just my 2 cents...and worth evey bit!

EVERYONE can see past me when they get behind me on a 2 lane road because I just scoot over to the far right side of the lane and the car barely takes up half of the road. They can see around no problem. I try to play up the Please Pass thing here as these dingleberries in these parts tend to get behind you 2 feet off your bumper even though its obvious they desperately want to go 74 in 60 zone.

I put on a license frame that says "PASS! HAMSTERS NO GO 60MPH" (that's all that would fit) It really has helped as now I've started a rumor that the car won't go over 60mph.

My smart WANTS to cruise on the open road around 74-77mph. I am fairly leadfooted anyhow. With A/C, going from 1250 elevation down to 650 and back up , high humidity almost every day, Using Texaco gas I am still avereraging 41-43MPG!!
