All,
I am about to buy a Smart Car as an orphan instead of the exact one I ordered because I need to get the deal done soon. The only difference between the one I ordered and the orphan is that the latter has no security/anti-theft system.
I see that, for example, from Best Buy I can get a Viper anti-theft (plus some added) system to install on an after-market basis. I would have this professionally done. I have a couple of questions.
(1) Does anyone have direct experience with installing after market systems and is it generally positive or negative?
(2) Is the Viper system any good or does anyone have a suggestion as to best of breed?
(3) Are there any issues I should be aware of installing after-market products?
(4) Should I indeed be worried about a Smart Car being stolen in an urban environment in the Northeast United States?
The person at the dealership is very sanguine about the idea of doing this but they are in sales not in service.
Any help from persons with direct experience would be very much appreciated and I thank any respondents in advance for their kind responses.
