Age of owners

seem to me the most smart owners are 40+ as i am. if i could turn back the hands of time to make me 20 again i would be chumping at the bit to get a smart but it looks like younger people dont get it ! the car is cheep but build well, safe,great milage and damn cool as any car.well on the up side it might help keep ins rates down!!!!

I'm 50+. And, didn't buy my first NEW car until I hit the big Four Oh. Although I was financially able, I preferred to let 'the other guy' take the big depreciation hit you get when you sign agreement with most cars.

Although the smart is not an expensive car, 15-20K is still a good chunk of change for a lot of young people ... heck, it is for me too! I think you're wrong about them 'not getting it'. I think the car is viewed very favorably by the younger set.

According to Penske, the average age of a Smart owner in the US is 47. For Minis it is 51.
