This past weekend we saw temperatures in the high 90s with an excursion or two over 100 - according to my handy little infrared thermometer the air coming through the AC louvers on the dash was at a comfortable 36 degrees F... it took almost no time at all to cool the cabin to a comfortable temperature. That's with the roof shade closed, the AC temp all the way down, and the fan on 2 - no recirculation. When we park we put a shade in the windshield as well...

Similar experience in the Bay Area this past week, after doing the "can I get to 300+" week, and hitting 330, I decided to be nice to me and the GF and run the AC. Car cools down pretty quickly, closing the screen just helps with EVERYTHING. In 93 degree temps, it was quite nice. Not sure how much it east up in MPG, but it has to be at least 15%

Check out the vendor marketplace and look for the thread on the windshield cover by classicsmarts.

Ran a small a/c test today

It's been in the 90's to low 100's here in Southern California the past four days. I've been running the a/c every day but haven't got to the point where I need to turn it down because it's sooo cold so I was starting to think about taking it in for a checkup. However, I read some entries on here about people who turned down the temp all the way and the air became cold quickly and I hadn't done that. As is my normal custom, I set the temp at 70 all the time and figured the a/c would get there as quickly as it could.

Well today on my drive home (98 degree weather) I turned down the a/c temp to 60, no recirculation. The air became ICE cold! And eventually yes, i finally had to turn that sucker down and temp up. VERY efficient cooling, and from now on if anyone asks I'll also recommend they turn down the temp as well as use recirc and at least the three setting for the fan. Once the car is cool set the temp you want and let the auto temp do its job...

After sitting in full sun at 110...

I was quite comfortable in less than 1.5 miles. Car had been soaking up the rays with a sun screen in the front window facing west all day. At 4 miles I was turning things down. So it looks like its up for a normal Phoenix summer. After 20 years in Phoneix this is only my second car with AC ... The others A Dodge Omni with 1600 CC Peugo engine ( I really miss that car) and a Jeep wrangler ( no roof no ac ...). So this is a major luxury.
