Alarm system malfunction

I picked up my passion coupe on Saturday. Sunday night the alarm went off (1 am or so). I tried to reset it by opening the door & putting the key in the ignition and then relocking it. That didn't work and the alarm started up again so this time I started the car, drove it down the driveway and back up. Still didn't work and the alarm went off again. Finally I turned it off by pushing the "off/deactivate" button. If I don't do that, it will go off at random, usually many hours after it's been locked. Anyone else have a similar problem? I'll be taking it back to the dealer for them to check but was curious if this is a common problem.

Thanks, I see the problem is also mentioned in the thread about the alarm sensitivity can't be adjusted. That's where there's also mention of the upside down motion detector as a possible culprit

the dealer also says there was a recall that had to do with checking something with the brake line. Checking that apparently involves getting up close with the alarm motion sensor and moving it accidentally is apparently a cause of the random alarm triggering
