Scangauge shows 100+ mpg

I just got mine from JC Whitney today. After going through all the set-up procedures I went for a drive and almost half the time the gauge read 9999 mpg. AFter about 2 minutes it'll read around 30-40 which is just about right but as soon as I let go the gas at 30-40 mph it'll show over 100+ mpg. When I slow down or hit a bump it'll get to 9999 again. The gauge has swings from 10 mpg to about 70+ mpg even at constant speed and rpm. I'm just about ready to send mine back. This scangauge is not as great as people make it out to be. Oh by the way I put it in my Suburban and redid the set-up with same results.

it takes mine a second of two to react to changing throttle conditions and I get the same 9999 mpg occassionally when I am coasting downhill, but it recomputes when I give it gas and it gives workable information. It might have more to do with your style of driving?
