Down here, those mery brakers all seem to live in one community: Seizure World, land of the ginormous Cadillacs.

i simply can't believe some of the caustic comments i've read on here about this simple topic and again i appologize for allowing myself to stoop to the level of some. all i was asking were for comments from 'fellow left foot brakers' and how they adapted to the smart. that's all.

and about the comment that is repeated over and over concerning left foot brakers that 'ride the brake': THAT'S NOT ME! i have been behind drivers that are driving like complete idiots and i would rather doubt it's because they brake with their right foot. it's because they're and IDIOT! same with those who ride their brake. IDIOT. White, Black, Asian, German, Hispanic, etc....IDIOTS come in all sizes, colors, religions, sexual orientation and span decades in ages, from 16 to 116 (oh, wait....i think he died. my bad). get my point? there are BAD DRIVERS EVERYWHERE and since the majority of people brake with their right foot, i'm not going to come on this forum and blame their lack of driving expertise on how they brake. that's just stupid.

automatic equipped cars were MADE for braking with the left foot, hence the LARGER BRAKE PEDAL! think about THAT!

now, can we get back on topic here and have comments from OTHER LEFT FOOT BRAKERS that have had to adapt to their smart?

Meat, You make a good point. I've seen my mother constantly tap the brake, WITH HER RIGHT FOOT. She moves her right foot between the gas and brake pedals, accelerating, then tapping on the brake. Thank goodness she almost never drives anymore, and only goes about 3 blocks when she does drive.

I, on the other hand, have never used my right foot for braking. Left foot braking is as natural for me as right foot braking is for others. I have no interest in driving a stick. IMHO they are too much trouble, especially in stop and go driving. I'm more than happy with my automatic cars.

Some of you are making arguments as ridiculous as claiming left-handed people can't write as good as right-handed people and should not be trusted.

It's the internet.

You could start a topic saying what a nice day it is where you live and invariably some nutbag who lays down his bike because someone merged into his lane ahead of him ... no wait, because he's a rocket scientist ... no wait, he's a ECU programmer ... no wait, he's an adolescent who knows nothing at all about anything will post on your thread saying that it's not a nice day and you're wrong because he lives in the most crowded city in the U.S. ... no wait, it's Texuuus ...no, wait it's because she's PMSing it will never be a nice day as long as there are men in the world ... no wait, it's because someone wants to ban someone else and demands that the moderator do something because it's not nice enough where they live and that's why they're posting ... no, wait... well, you get the idea.

And then you want to try to rein in all the comments and bring it back on topic? Trying to direct people on the internet is like trying to herd cats; unless you've got a really long shish kabob fork, it'll never happen.

Your pal,
Meat.

I always make good points. Some people just don't like them because my points are much better than their points.

Well, it's been proven that left handed people think faster, type faster and are more creative than right handed people. That doesn't mean they write better, though. And they certainly didn't have the upper hand (no pun intended) when it came to deciding which hand was evil.

And I certainly wouldn't trust me, either.

The reason many old folks . . .

The reason many old folks get confused and back out of a parking spot and into a store front is often attributed to 'left foot braking.' Or even going straight in from a standing start. . . Most comment "But I thought I was pressing on the brake" and they simply don't have the reaction time to alter their perception and actually press on the brake pedal. This happens lots down here with the older driving population - often with disasterous results.

Using only the right foot insures that the gas IS NOT being pressed. . .

When I learned on a stick shift over 50 years ago I was taught that the left foot is for the clutch. Keep it on the floor unless using the clutch! And get off the gas and brake with the right foot! Makes perfect sense to me.

just because the law of physics states your right foot can't be in two places at the same time doesn't mean that your right foot is where it SHOULD be just because you're only using your right foot.

in case you didn't know it, BOTH FEET operate on commands from your BRAIN. if you hit the gas instead of the brake, it's your BRAIN that's malfunctioning, not your FEET, left OR right!!!

some peoples logic.......

Amen! Get off the brake and drive. It's weird to follow a car which accelerates at the same time the brake light comes on.
