Any problems with your smart?

I haven't had the best luck with cars in the past... just wondering how your smart car has been in regards to reliability... being that they just updated the model again.

several threads on minor problems, most are limited to one or a very few vehicles (ie: gear shift knob).

It's no Toyota.. or Saab, but most people have had VERY trouble free cars so far. Mine- not exactly. It sputtered and broke down on the test drive and has had recurrent engine-light issues.. and it's got just 250 miles. First they thought it was water in the tank on delivery from France.. and it took a week to figure that one out.. but it didn't fix it. Now the engine light has come on intermittently again. Car still drives, but they have ordered a whole new 'engine control unit'.. which isn't in stock. To be continued, but so far I'm really glad I didn't sell our other cars when I got the smart. Want to love it, but at this point, I'd say buy it if you love unique cars and you live near the dealer.. not if you want the most trouble free vehicle on the market.

No problems with nearly 4K miles. Wish I could have said that about my '07 Toyota!

Just about 5000 miles on it and working very well so far. I didn't expect to put quite so many miles on it quickly, but my wife and I take it pretty much anytime we are going anywhere.

I'm coming up on 6000 miles. A few minor glitches in the beginning (could have be me getting used to it) but everything worked itself out. Nothing bad to report.

Replaced some emission control items in the fuel tank due to a check engine light. Took 24 hours in and out of the dealership. No charge.

2200 miles and only issue so far is that the tailgate is not aligned properly. The latch on the passenger side is out to far. Easy to adjust.

Did you have an '07 Camry Automatic? Was that the trouble you had? I heard there were many issues with the 4-cyl/auto pairing... Just curious... I'm a huge Toyota fan, and and crossing my fingers that their quest for #1 doesn't leave their quality reputation floundering...
