Anybody called the 800# for status??

Just wondering if anyone has called the SmartUSA number to find out the approx delivery date of their ForTwo, what stage your car is in - whether or not it has been produced, can you still make changes, etc.

We are an 1184 and getting anxious!!

I find that the last few times I have called the number I get an increasingly cold shoulder. They now seem to be just reading scripted statements. And what used to be a 24/7 call-in became sparsely-manned on weekends, and now has PST business hours. You can pretty much forget about responses to emails.

Once my dealer (scVAB) is ready for operation I will use them as my info source and forget about smart USA Distributor LLC entirely.

Wow!!

What a differance in the call center! When you call you get a little differant greeting ie: push 1 for this push 2 for that, etc. I pressed one to get a rep on the phone and she was more than willing to answer any question...no more of that stupid script reading goin on. She did ask for my confirmation number and said " wow, you are really close. you will get your car in the first quarter of 2008. The dealer that will be in your area will not be open in time so you will have to travel a bit to the next closet dealer. The next closet dealer already has your info and should be contacting you very soon!"
To me, this is great news b/c up until this point no one could give me a straight answer about if my local dealer is not complete, do i have to wait or can i take delivery from the next closest? Also, having an official Smart rep telling me that I am close has gotten me all excited again.
Would love to hear who else has spoken with them today.

You can make changes, it will delay your delivery. They won't know where your car is in the process. The delay will be months if you change.

I have an #1180 Reservation number, and I called today to find out which dealer I was assigned to, but they could not tell me at this time. I then called the closest dealer and he does not have my town in his territory, but he does have every town around me. I then called another dealer an hour farther away and she has my town in her territory. It seems I have been assigned to her. I am now trying to find out if I can switch the delivery location of my car before it leaves the dock. Everyone seemed to think it was possible, but I could not get a definate answer. Both dealers are open, although the closer one does not yet have a license. Anyone know the answer to this?

Give them some time since they just put out the assignments today. You will have several weeks (months?) before delivery.
