~ He is a co-worker so that was a one time thing! lol . .. I insisted on taking him for a ride because he INSISTED that he wouldn't fit . . I had to prove him wrong . .. We had a HUGE laugh about it after I told him that he was banned . ..
His feelings weren't hurt, he still said that he wouldn't consider buying a smart . .
Ahh, well thats the fix for the larger folk. Im pretty big myself but dont need the extender. Wifie does tho.
~ I had a fat guy in my passenger seat, talk about a bull in a china shop . . . Not only did he jam the seatbelt, he pulled the entire line out and it got stuck , he had to step back outside the car in order to fix it . . .
He is no longer allowed to ride with me
WoW - that's really sensitive of you - brought me to tears~!
I don't like having to fix this every time a passanger rides in the car and don't want to do the duc tape thing. I am going to look at it today to see if I can't drill through the assembly and insert a small roll pin to keep the belt from traveling up the slot. I'll let you know how it goes.
OK everyone, here is the "fix" that will NOT damage your seatbelt guide and really doesn't look too bad at all...Go to the hardware store (Home Depot, Lowe's Ace etc.) and find the clear plastic hose section...Purchase approximately four inches (if they will allow that...most sell it by the foot only)... Figure how long a piece needs to be to fit in the vertical slot of the seatbelt guide and cut a piece that long...Slit the piece length wise on one side only (please be careful and don't cut yourself, I was able to use a long pointed sissors)...Now slide this piece of hose in the slot wrapped around one side of the seatbelt guide and the problem is solved!!!
Nicholas - +5 for that!! I looked at the assembly and decided it was too thin to try to drill a hole and I had concerns about reduction in strength. This is the fix, thanks!!

i have had seat belt probs on my pass seat as well, i think this should be a re-call, i have seen many posts in the past on the same subject. This seem like a small problem but it could cause a death and Smart would be on the hook for it
I've never had a problem, but I've seen tangled belts happen in any car with carelessness.
And, seems that both sides are the same, just mirrors of each other. Why should the passenger belt have more problems??
