Anybody watch Rescue Me and catcfh the smart car quote? its not flattering
so i am watching rescue me and they are headed to a traffic accident. there are a bunch of mangled cars, one of them really badly. one character asks another, "what kind of car was that." another character says "it's one of those tiny smart type cars...no one is walking out of that."
the wreck was obviously not a smart.
i dunno, i was offended. way to promote negative stereotypes about small cars. almost slanderous in a way...
I walked into the room right at the moment in the show where they arrived at the accident scene and I thought the quote was "That's one of those smart guy cars. . ." It was clearly not a Smart - the tridion would have been prominent even the the worst case. But to the uninitiated, the comment is enough the link the metal ball to the Smart.
Why not a line like, "That's one of those eco-friendly types, doesn't look too friendly." Avoids bashing a brand.
Don't know what SP has to do with anything, but the remark about our little cars is a cheap shot for sure.
Please understand that Volkswagen is a major sponsor on the program too.

As for 'all us guys' being related to her, well I've heard that she DOES 'get around', but for all of us to be related to her? That's a bit of a stretch, even for SP!
HGB...Exactly! They could have easily not mentioned the name of the car, which in fact looked like a really old, mashed up Civic hatchback. It seemed like cheap shot and honestly, as HGB pointed out, VW is all over that show. Wonder if they gave Denis a few extra to take some pot shots at another brand?
As for Sarah Palin...She looks good in this Runners World article...
What Sarah Palin has to do with it is that there is a bunch of whining going on here, and that sounds just like her........... ever hear the saying, any press that keeps your name in the news is good press?
