Anyone overweight sat in one?

Just wondering. I am buying this for my petite wife, but I am 5'7" and 345 pounds. Will I be able to get in it too?

No problemo. somewhere there is a video showing two very hefty guys trying to get into a few cars at an auto show, but the smart was the only one that was "just right" like Goldilocks.

Size is one thing, but weight could be a problem. The smart coupe is rated a max of 507 (people + cargo), 463 max for the convertible.

My wife is only 105-110, so combined weight for a Passion Coupe would be in range (450-455), but I wondered if there is room for my bulk. Height is no problem but girth might be. I can drive my wife's Neon once I get in it, lol, but getting in and out of the Neon is my problem as its so low to the ground (bad knees also). The Smart doesn't have this problem as it seats you higher which is a big plus for me, but the width of the Smart is where I am concerned.

It looks like my late reservation will mean a late 2008 or 2009 delivery and I plan to have a stomach bypass surgery, sometime in 2008, so maybe by then it won't be an issue any longer.

I really like the Smart and want to be able to drive it too!

No go.

Wouldn't run for me either.

Thanks, I've seen that one before, it would not run for me this time. But he is tall and not big around like me. I heard the guy in roomy is big, but it wouldn't run for me either.

nevis,
I'm only 5'8" and "generously proportioned" and found that the smart was easier to get into and out of than any car I had driven since my company minivan. By far. I originally had the same worry as you. I knew I'd fit vertically, but horizontally was an issue.
Relax! Your left elbow may rub the door panel if you're driving, your right elbow if you're a passenger but everywhere else? No problem!

P.S. My wife's Jeep Wrangler is a tight fit for me.

Thanks!

Thanks Sisyphus! That makes me feel better. I sure like those little Smarts... I would hate not to be able to enjoy it too. My wife will get it most of the time, but I could take a spin from time to time. ;) BTW, my regular vehicle is a Mercury Monteray mini van, so I need a "little" excitement, pardon the pun...
