Armrest under $40!

Not sure if this would fit on a Smart Fortwo... don't have one yet to see... maybe someone can check out the specs and see if it would work? The dealership wanted over $300 for a center console armrest!!! Yikes! This one looks as though it should work... see what you think:

Look at the specs:

  • Slips easily between your seats (needs 5" or wider space)
  • Sturdy metal legs can be adjusted up to 6" apart and fit securely over OE console with sloped sides
  • Won't interfere with brake lever, gear shift or seat belt operation
I think that first one is gonna keep us from using this on smarts.

No possible way there is a 5" wide gap between our seats!

I just went and measured between the seats... anywhere from a max of 3.5" to as little as 2", depending on the position of the seats... (there is more room between them if 1 seat is all the way back... but, seems like no way 5" will fit in there (that's what SHE said at the picnic!)

Even if it could fit, it might make shifting difficult since it could be in the way; especially if one uses the manual shift option.

Perhaps there are other options?

There's one from armrest king in canada. I installed it and it works as a basic spot to put your elbow. The fit isn't great, and it's flimsy, but it does the job at a reasonable price.

$300 ?????

They were selling them for $150 at the dealership in Alexandria, VA. I hope that price included installation at least.

You know maybe the legs on this one from J.C. can be modified easily provided that the box it self in not 5” wide, I kind of looks like it may be but who knows? I am going to get an armrest; I want my cruise control first! I looked at the one from “autoaccessories.com” and I have read reports that it is “sturdy”, “Flimsy”, “easy to install”, and oh yea, “Not all that easy to install” I guess the only way to find out is to just get one and see.

There were one arm rests shown for the Smart Fortwo;
2008 SMART FOR TWO 451 Armrest

TOTAL: $109.99 USD
It says shipping is free. I like free.
They also had one for the Forfour and the Roadster.
