I had the same reaction until I realized that it was referring to the line before it, i.e. "Crrent reservations: 40,000." They expect 58% of those 40,000 to actually convert into sales.

Ay least that's what I interpet it to mean.

IMHO, that figure is carried over from previous years.
I distinctly remember the smart second hand market in Switzerland in 2005. A quick loss of value: I had seen a 2 years old dark blue smart 450 pulse, with 18.000 k. (11.000 m.). It went for CHF 6.250, slightly less than a third of its original price! It was tempting, but luckily I waited for the NA451: definitely less hassle and costs to import...

I'm with you on the "EV". Just kind of disappointed that we won't see it until 2012. I was really hoping to see it NEXT year (2010) but oh well, so be it.

Maybe by then they'll get the range increased and I can get one for the wife.

I'm with you guys I'm looking forward to the EV. It will work "perfectly" for my situation and the 2012 works for me too

This must be a typo. Doesn't ALG rate/project a car's residual value at the end of a 36 month lease?

If that's the case 58% is good. The Mini Cooper was 2008's top compact retaining 64.5%. Other's were Scion xB 63% and Honda Fit 59.8%
