Available Micro cars

There are more good cars available now than in my entire lifetime but still only one micro car available to buy new here in the US. Mine got ordered before gas prices went nuts again. Thought it would be somthing fun to go into town with and it is. Just got back from a trip to Ohio from here in MA and the smart is a fully practical car, only smaller than usual. Is it the only car for me, well not yet. capable of 99% of what I need there are still other toys out there that beckon. Lots of people that I have spoken to fear that we will be forced into what they percive as little death traps.
I see the smart as safe, comfortable and economical to own and run and a lot of fun as well. Two children and can only afford one car look elsewhere.
There are lots of compact and sub compact sedans that get good milage and provide the space you need.
Want a microcar, sill only one out there for us that want one here in the USA. Glad I got mine

The car does 99% for me as well when ever I get to drive it. My wife keeps taking it from me. Thank goodness I have a second one coming in 2 months.

We just got another "micro" car.
Safe? That depends I guess. But it's available and street legal.

What is it and where did you get it? There is a dealer near me- Ivor, Va.- who is selling 3 wheel cars and trucks., but their top speed is only 45mph. They're street legal because they're considered motorcycles (actually tricycles)and you have to have a motorcycle license to drive them.

in the US though? I've seen them for sale here AND we have them at work. Yes we drive them on the streets at work but we're sort of outside of US law in some aspects. I got chased down one day in my Smart and the owner had said he had one - said it would do 90mph but isn't street legal. He also said he used it on his farm, the reason for even having it. I have a Cushman Turf Truckster with hydraulic dump bed and PTO for me on my property - a full 25mph tops.

We have them here in Mexico. I think it is a Hyundai 100. You are no longer in the 'land of the free' but the 'middle kingdom'.

Its a Subaru Sambar.
550cc liquid cooled twin cylinder engine mounted over the rear axle.
4wd with 4 wheel independent suspension and a 4 speed with an additional "granny" low to make up for the lack of a 2spd transfer case.
It's my boys 1st car (truck I guess) and we are going to give it an oil change and filters this weekend.
It is right hand drive so I don't know if they are road legal in the U.S. But it's road legal here in Saskatchewan.

I was going to take a picture of one with my Smart yesterday - the ones we have at work are left hand drive. Not sure if it being the right hand drive is the issue of making it street legal here in the US, lack of safety and emissions is what they are looking for "I think" - that means don't quote me on that. I believe ours are Daihatsu , not Subaru. Looks absolutely identical though.
