Back-in Parking

Okay so I had to try it. But I was uncomfortable since the nose stuck out to far. So I just took pictures and people checked Squirtle out.

Pics would be cool

I imagine that I'd pop up on the curb a tad vs sticking out (depending on the road width/circumstances). Heck, in SF there are tons of locations where people park halfway onto the sidewalk anyway, I can't see how they'd mind a little intrusion that wouldn't block the pathway at all.

Insofar though I am just impressed at what it can fit into parallel, it's fantastic.

The parking police drove by and slowed almost to a stop. "Oh, *#@&*#" I worried, thinking I was about to get a ticket. But the cop was just slowing down for a better look!

Tiny cars may force cities to rethink parking

From San Francisco Chronicle March 22, 2008
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl.../BA2CVNEHD.DTL
Carried over from the NorCal Chapter

«Smart cars cannot park perpendicularly on [San Francisco] city streets, they can park two to a marked space as long as they both fit within the lines and allow room for each other to maneuver, said Kristen Holland, spokeswoman for San Francisco's Municipal Transportation Agency. The same goes for metered spots - as long as someone pays the meter. And if it expires, she said, both cars can be ticketed. The same law applies to motorcycles.
Smart USA spokesman Ken Kettenbeil said the company has just started talking with some East Coast cities about Smart-friendly parking policies. He declined to name the specific cities.»

Soon you'll find out that changing the front bumper can be expensive

If you guys want to park like that i suggest the old Smart 450 which is few inches shorter. with some luck you can still get some in canada.

btw, i found this pic on the web, im not sure what car it is but it sure looks weird.

HensGirl.. did the cop mention anything about the Delaware Parking Laws? I have been really temped to leave it like that in the city during lunch, but knowing the DE cops, they would probably write a ticket out of spite...

I have a 450 Smart which is a little shorter. I do it all the time. If I ever did get a ticket I would say that My Dodge dually is the same width as my Smart is long. The only problem I have ever run into is the wanker that parked right up to my door so that I had to go into the pass door and climb over.

Yeah, I would not want to be boxed into the space...
