Woody14619 - That is a production piece that used to be available for the 450 model in Canada. I don't believe it is still in production. Sent you a PM on a possible contact.

PS - This thing is not on my car. I chose the A2Jack spare tire in a bag system!

I have seen some SUV's that have the spare on the back held in place with a special bracket. Could something like this be done for the Smart?
Where can I purchase one of these spare tire kits for my Smart. I live in the Nashville, Tennessee area, and I definitely need one of these.

Thanks,

For something to hold the tire (and jack, mine fits inside) you can order from The Bag Lady who has re-opened her sideline business. Paul at Round Rock Smart Center (supporting vendor) offers a jack and lug nut kit if you don't want to piece one together yourself.

I went to my local trailer supply house and ordered a tire cover(smallest size) in black. They had this tire cover in stock but in white. I put the spare tire/wheel assembly in the tire cover and stored behind the drivers seat. You hardly notice it is there with the black tire cover.

You can get an outdoor spare tire cover at an RV parts shop. Get the smallest one they have!

I had one like this for a spare front wheel mounted pretty much like Dunerunner's until I got the space-saver to tuck behind the seat.

Am I to understand that the front wheel "spare" can be stashed behind the driver's seat? I've looked at the space available behind my driver's seat, and find that the pouch with the manual barely fits back there, much less a tire, smart sized or otherwise.

(Of course, I'm 6' 3" tall, and my seat is traveled all of the way back.)

I'm 6' 2" with seat all the way back, and put the pouch with the manual under the passengers seat... No tire going behind the drivers seat in my car...hehehe

At 6'6" I don't see any room behind my seat.

I just damaged a rim and ruined a tire.
Bought a new set up @ $610.58 and kept the slightly damaged rim.
I'm going to get the slight dent in my damaged rim fixed and keep a spare at home.

At least home is easier to get to than the dealer.
Home is open 24/7, unlike he dealer.
