The Best of France and Italy: We were there!

Just a quick note of thanks and appreciation for all of you who came to The Best of France and Italy car show this past weekend.

The rest pf you may recall this was the show that wouldn't allow smarties to enter because we "were not French enough" for the show's organizer.

Well about ten of us arrived early enough in the morning to park right at the entrance and proclaim our "Frenchness" to the world. The results were very positive. Citroen owners especially seemed to welcome us.

And wait till you see the "Peppy Le Piu" smart car that joined us.. driven by an actual, real Frenchman!

I'll post photos and a video later in the week. But for now I just want to thank all of you who took time from your busy schedules to meet up on an early Sunday morning. We had a great time and got to be "Gray Panthers" for a morning.

The show was wonderful as well. Good job! to organizer Tina. Now if she just lets us fully participate next year...

Hey, would all of you who attended please send me your names so I can acknowledge you properly. And who was Mr. Le Piu?

Danny

GREAT! Sounds like you were received well by most people except for the event organizer, owner/ coordinator. You didn't have a petition with the cars or a sign saying why you were out front in stead of on the field?

But of course! We had windshield signs that said (next to a drawing of the Eiffel Tower) "Nous sommes smart et nous sommes fabriqués en France!" (We are smart and we are made in France!).

Due to the hostile reaction we received from the promoter (and from some of our smarties on line) I decided not to push the issue by proclaiming why we had been locked out.

I think it was a good idea 'not to push the issue'. It is better that they remember the positive instead of the negative.

I have seen and read that the French created new words to replace the English/American word that had crepted into their language. Words like LeCashFlow or LeCar. I find this odd since there are French words that are now part of the American English language. We did not create 'American' words to replace them.

No matter what some French people (I do not think they all dislike Americans; IMO, just a few do) think of USA, I still like them (at least a majority of them).
