Rather than complaining about it, why not bite the bullet and organise a meet.
As Kevin Costner said in Field of Dreams "Build it, and they will come"

I practice what I preach, I too had no meets in the Sheffield area, so I organised a meet and we have had loads since and the meets are getting bigger and better, our next meet we are going Pony Trekking on Western Saddles at www.lazingsaddles.co.uk then having a picnic afterwards, we always try and organise interesting meets, not just meet up in a carpark and look at each others internals
smart owners are different, so the meets should be as well, I have found that as many women come to these meets as men, what other car owners club can say that, it is usually a mastfest, (just learned that expression after watching Family Guy), and I think it applies here
Yours Giggity,
Ellis

You don't need a following to organize an event. Decide on a place, map out a drive route, whatever! just post it and people will go if they can. Pick a date in advance to allow people to plan for it and get the word out. If only 3 people show up, so what!! have a good time. You don't have to have 20 cars to have fun, Meet at a drive-in for lunch (like Sonic) and pick out a 50 mile drive. Enjoy!!

YEA!!! "You" don't have to have a 'following' as you put it. People come to see the cars and visit with each other, NOT just the host or organizer. AND you don't have to have a smart center or vendor involved to pull it off.

Just check out local events such as car shows and local festivals or even museums, parks, things like that which will interest people.

Yes, we ARE having great weather here in the Midwest too, but for the most part August is an OVEN here, which is why I'm sure nothing has been planned. We had a nice outing last month at a local park which we had a shelter all to ourselves and had a really great turnout.

You can do the same.......

....sorry, I walked away from my computer and 'jim' posted before I was finished. It's really difficult sometimes to type with these great big bear paws....

I don't have a following either, I'm not the Messiah, I'm a very naughty boy. (note to self, stop quoting, it sounds geeky)

I had no idea when I posted about the first meet if anybody would come or not, I picked a Centretainment venue, where lots of entertainment and eateries are, and we went 10 pin bowling and then went to Frankie and Benny's for lunch, no driving involved once we all got there, so it was easy to organise, and about 20 people turned up.
I had never organised anything before this in my life, so if I can do it, anybody can.
I got in touch with the Main smart dealers where I bought my smart from, they are about half a mile from the centretainment complex, and they could'nt have been less interested, so don't rely on anybody else organising things.
