I don't feel like quite the slug now. I skipped out on a 40 mile bike ride this morning to meet a couple of other smart owners at a cars and coffee get together. It was fun. With the possible exception of one Avanti, there wasn't a car in the parking lot that didn't have more horsepower than the three smarts combined!

The current bike rack solution available from one of the forum sponsors is expensive enough that when I install it and carry the bikes one of my buddies and I own, we'll have a third of the total ensemble (smart, rack and bikes) value hanging out behind the motor!

I bought tow point adapters from a Mini supply place in Olympia, WA, then added 3/4" pipe reducer nipples to them, plus 18" of 3/4" pipe, 2 Yakima Boa racks, and presto: bike rack for 2 bikes. The racks unscrew and fit into the trunk hatch. Not sure I'd put DH bikes on the system, but it holds 2 road bikes very nicely, and other than the Boas, I spent less than $70.
