Bike carrier question

Well I used to have a bike rack that cost $150. It was about to cause damage to the car. I then looked at the vendors bike racks...and I didn't like what I saw. All of them require the bikes to hang and swing. The smart rack is the only one where the bikes will rest and the wheels don't move.

It is the best rack you can buy. Plus it is the nicest looking as it matches the Smart.

See my photos under the Tandem link in the gallery. Uhaul hitch, with Saris rack. I've hauled two regular bikes and now we have the tandem.

We sure get comments as the tandem bike sticks out about 1 1/2" feet on either side of Marta!

Also, bike rack unloaded lowered mpg by 2mpg. When loaded with two regular or the tandem goes down another 4 mpg

Go to your local U-Haul place and have them install a receiver hitch (around $200). Then go to Walmart and buy a hitch mounted bike carrier (way under $100). Hook your wheel chair on it and bungee in place - no problem. The weight is carried by the frame of the car, not the tow hook holes. Additional advantage is all the people who ask what kind of trailer you pull with the smart!
