Has anyone had a problem with the radio? Ours stopped working and we took it in for service. We were told that it was a wire that connects to the antenna. It would have to be replaced. We have waited for over 6 weeks for the part. Today SMART called and said that it would have to replace the radio. It would take another week or so for the parts to arrive. Our new SMART has only 800 miles on it.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. The radios aren't typically fragile so your luck is strong (not necessarily good, though).

Once you get things replaced, I hope you're good for endless years of radio joy.

Replacing the radio should be quick and easy at your local Smart Center. I'd expect most have radios sitting on the shelves from upgraded radio installs (from new cars) that could be swapped. If you haven't already, call and ask what they can do for you!

Well, it still works but a few weeks back during our heat wave it started making popping and crackling noises thru the speakers when it was OFF~! Go figure that one out. The radio still works but when you shut the car off, the radio goes off and then the popping and crackling starts. In order to keep the speakers from blowing (in case there was voltage being placed on the speakers from a bad capacitor or such) I pulled the fuse (#15) and drive around in silence. I'll be able to get it to the dealer in a couple of weeks.
It's an easy problem to replicate so hopefully they'll ante up for a new one since I'm not yet a year out from buying.

I think by and large the radios have been performing fine. (Well, let me rephrase: most of them have worked properly. Sound-wise, they suck, LOL, but that's another story...)
