Seriously, I'd never seen a Smart on the road in Chicago. Since getting one, I've see 5. One of the funny things about car buying - once you've got one of a model, you see it everywhere.
If there's any Chicagoans reading, the last one was yesterday at Best Buy on North Ave, a gray car with black Tridion, still with temporary plates like me. I pulled into the spot you left in the lot, seconds later.
When we brought ours home I dropped it off at my wifes office so she could drive it home. As she was pulling out of the parking lot for the first time another smart drove by. Never happened before or since.

I saw 5 of them, Last May, visiting my brother in Aurora. 2 of them in Naperville, 1 in Aurora, a older 450 downtown. A yellow and black at one of the train stops, going on the train downtown.
Just got back from a 4102 mile trip, went thru Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana and never saw another single Smart car. Met lots of people at gas stations telling us they had never seen a Smart car before.
We live on a large chain of lakes just out side of Ann Arbor, Michigan. This summer we parked our Smartie in our back yard down by the connecting river.
Many people have told us they see our car as they go by in their boats. There are now three Smart cars regularly seen at our local Kroger store.
I live in Chicagoland and except for the local Smart that passes by my house everyday, seeing another Smart is rare. The last other Smart I saw was at Sam's Club in Gurnee. It was a Bumblebee. The local Smart is Red w/silver trid.
My monthly Smart count is 1 per month (not including the local one).
-Yes, it seems that whatever you're driving that there is more of the it on the roads. I never knew that soooo many Chicagoians owned Envoys until we got one.
I've probably seen a total of three in the south suburbs, since last year. I drive mine on days when there is no snow on the roads. This past week has been good to get the smart out. Can't wait for spring/summer to hit and put the top down. Not many at all in the south burbs.
