Black dot?

I was just wondering what the black dot is on all smart cars under the left headlight...if you look straight at the front of the car anyway?

just wondering...thanks!

There are actually 2 on the front also, just no hole was provided for the one on the left side!

It's for the tow eye. But I like to think of it as a beauty mark

For the same reason that Honda did not make the cladding on the Element and does not make the bumper inserts on the CRV body colored ... it reduces the sales price of the vehicle by not having to stocking 6 different parts and keeps the assembly line from coming to a halt if the correct colored part is not in stock.

The covers are readily available from Smart Parts Direct in England painted to match, in the exterior section of the catalog.

I guess i do like them black if it makes the car cheaper. maybe i'll buy a black car and not worry about the plug color. but my car is going to be white, i can always paint them myself.
