Blast from the past, (First US Impressions)

I found this on an RC Site while searching for a RC Smart
Smart Car SMART? too too fun to drive - RC Groups

It explained why a lot of folks had misguided preconceptions about the smart.

The thread was started by someone who was able to drive them from the floor of the LA convention center onto the trucks in 2005. He had nothing but praise for them, but was told they would only cost $5K and ger 60mpg.

Ah, May 2008, I visited the dealer because my mom said "Smart Car", she had me thinking about a car that drove itself or did something that no other car could do. But I went into the dealer, the smart was nearly completely foreign to me and I had a lot of questions and soon a passion (no pun intended ).

I remember the 1st one I saw, On the Pink Panther
And that's when I learned that there were 2 different models.

Then the second one, seen a day after we went to the dealer.
And soon, I joined this fine community, learned some cool things, and turned a passion into an obsession.
smart 450 & 451 =

Oh the memories!

Did you note the complaints?

Same as you hear from the UNinformed today . . .

A soccer Mom in an SUV would flatten you out . . .
Not enough room for groceries . . .
Looks unsafe to me . . .

I just love the uninformed, know-nothing, brain-disconnected-from-mouth kind of people who make these types of comments.

"Don't confuse me with facts; I know enough already."

As that is a couple years old, nobody really knew the real potential of a smart. But now I bet they wish they never said those words!

P.S. I edited your post to what it should say as of today.
