I'd be happy to tell anyone that send me a PM that has been an active contributor and belonged for a month or so as I doubt most car thiefs are smart enough to read anyway.

I just don't want to tell it in the forum because the search engines are too good.

I would like to know,...I'll see if I can rig it to be less inviting. I got my contact from Tulsa today....I should have my cabrio within 2 weeks, and I don't want it to be an easy hit if I can help it. I also wouldn't really shoot anyone over a car, but I would scare the bejeebers out of them.

Thanks

Find something else to worry about. How long does it take to break a window in any car? About 1 second with a screwdriver or small window breaker. Never did understand why people are more concerned about someone breaking into a convertible.

The ony people who pay attention to a car alarm going off are the people being annoyed by it. The owner is usually so far away that they don't know it's screeching...
All cars (cabrios/coupes/sedans) can be broken into quickly. All fabric convertible tops can be cut through. You should nevery leave anything in your car that you cannot afford to lose. Some people don't bother locking the car, but only the glove box or trunk. Don't make security your biggest issue on buying any car. If you want a convertible, get a convertible!

I would not sweat it......Full Coverage will cover you. I used to do auto rescue and I can tell you convertible or not... Most proffesionals can get into any car in 20 Seconds or less. An alarm may help but the best protection is to carry full coverage insurance and if you get an alarm get a paging alarm so it can page you when activated.

i still don't bother locking the doors on my ragtop jeep - what would be the point in that? just asking them to destroy the ragtop to gain access.
now i pretty much just leave the doors off 6 months out of the year and plan on leaving nothing of value in it. if i had any convertible i'd do the same.

I've never locked any of my ragtops going back 35 year. Replacing top is a lot more $$ than anything they can steal inside the car. Except the whole car that is, so I use immobilizer, wheel locks and lojack. There is not much you can do beyond that effectively IMHO.
