Buy Factory Fog, Alarm, & Gauges for Passion

Just to help out those who are trying to figure out which factory installed options make the most financial sense:

1. Fog Lights (much cheaper to have the factory do it now)
2. Alarm system (you will get a break on your insurance rates)
3. Dashboard gauges (it helps to know RPM's when you are paddle shifting so you don't over-rev the engine)

The comfort package, and power steering will not be missed if you are on a budget, and paint protection offered by the dealers is kind of silly since you can swap out the panels. I hope that helps.

for me the guage pods where a must have just for the goggly look as much as anything.
the computer will not allow you to over rev the engine it will auto upshift for you and there is also a rev limiter...

This may be true, but one can easily get into the redline when driving in the manual mode. A little too easy, IMHO.

the tach and clock are alot more expensive to have dealer in stalled.
I am sure the alarm can not be installed after production do to the location of the microwave sensor (motion sensor)
and fog lamps will be alot more expensive once we find out for sure they can be added on.. so if you on the edge, have them installed factory it will save you money or regrets or both

SmartTech,

Complete hijack here, but have you heard anything about being able to activate the DRLs through the computer? Lots of speculation about that in the DRL thread but none of us has the real answer. Thanks!

Am I the only one who doesn't really like the "googly" pods?

I meant to order the option but overlooked it, and was distressed at first. Now I think I somewhat like the dashboard more without them.
