Saronian - Thanks So Much for the PDF documents:

Under Section V: in order to keep the Service Contract valid....You MUST have the oil changed every 6 months or 6,000 miles whichever comes first......and a $100 deductible per visit.....Make me want to really think about this.

This is on your car...Right? Do you have a link? Are you sure your dealer will accept it as payment for repairs, or will you pay dealer and be reinbursed by GE ? A2Jack

My smartcar, yes. Was sold by dealer. Same prices as the warranty described here. ($995 for 60mo/60k miles)

Site is www.geaws.com, but they only sell through dealers. Dealer said must be taken at the time of purchase.

Am at work, and don't have contract with me. Am 95% sure it provides that dealer doesn't charge me, and am 99 44/100% sure that dealer said this. Also, disappearing deductible doesn't make sense otherwise.

Check your auto insurance policy and add towing coverage (if you don't have it). Check what is covered by the tow insurance - collision repairs or breakdowns? My insurance paid at least part of a tow when the exhaust fell off my Toyota Rav 4, and that wasn't the result of a collision.

Reliability and repair history are always a problem with the first model year of any vehicle - even a modification of an existing line. The choice is to wait a year. Or, since the Smart takes so long to deliver, read the forums.

O.K., Now I've got to tell ya, my head is really spinning at this point! "To buy or not to buy the extended or extra warranty" I guess it is too new a car to know if there will be anything major to go wrong...I know being 4 hours away from the closest dealer really sucks for me any way you slice it. Although my son lives in Va Beach, so I can visit my human grand baby, while my smart baby is getting fixed...sigh...I know it is only 1 in the afternoon...but I need a stiff drink!
Has anyone used there "extra" warranty yet? well, I guess that was a stupid question since the cars are still under their original warranty...I am going for that drink.....
