This car would really have been a home run if it were a 2 + 2. Scion was able to do it with their new IQ and it is not that much larger than the smart car. I am on the fence about getting a smart car for this reason alone.
Only you can decide if a two seater will suit your needs. I had a Z3 for eight years before buying my smart. Before that, an Alfa Romeo Spider that I enjoyed for 18 years. When I needed something larger I rented it. Didn't happen too often, your results may vary. My smart fits my needs perfectly and now we also have a Honda Insight (2nd gen) when we need to carry others, or more cargo.

Just like to have the extra seats just in case. Should have kept my MINI. I guess the deciding factor is when I test drive one next week. I love the fact that you can basically park it anywhere and the gas mileage is good as well and it is a MB!

Do you like to DIY maintenance???
MB service and parts are expensive...
If you buy new consider an extended warranty..
IF I was in need of a rear seat, obviously I wouldn't have bought a smart FOR TWO.
Yeah, if you need a back seat, then I guess it is a dumb car to buy ... at least as an only car. Many, if not most, smart owners are the owners of multiple vehicles.
