[Cabin] air filter alert...

I have been following a thread over at 451s about several air filters that their owners found mold in the car side of the filter.
Since our family here is a little larger than 451s I will suggest/recommend that we take a look at the filters, I did check mine and it did have several spots where the mold was already growing.
This can be a serious health hazard for people with allergies or low tolerance for this kind of stuff.
If we find out that this issue is fleet wide, how can we, as a community, get smart America involved.
your input is appreciated by all.

I just checked my cabin air filter and noticed one small dot of mold. I owned my smart since late April with 5000k miles / light A/C use.

I am wondering if this happens in humid only areas, or happening even in Las Vegas and in Arizona. It is very dry heat in those places. If it is due to humidy. Might have to start taking the filter out now and again to clean. Or even get some of that mold spray that keeps mold from growing. Wipe the filter down and be a done deal.

Watch...Next smart will start delivering them with a can of Lysol in the glovebox (for a "nominal" fee).

I didnt know they made such a thing. I have asthma and use the AC/recycler often. This isnt cool. Im going to check my toyota's airfilter. It always smells in the car... They check it ll the time tho...

You know, they could make the filter out of material that is resistant to mold. Microban!

I had one car that smelled, I put the heat on full blast bringing in outside air and sprayed Lysol into the air intake at the base of the windshield.
It went all through the air system and fixed the smell.
