..people ..we are not addressing the issue...yeah you can put an air freshener in front of the vent and get rid of the smell , but the mold is still in the system...and the source of the problem has not been addressed....I will encourage everybody to look at the cabin air filter and report back...for everybody's health...

That was just for my matrix. The filter in my matrix is fine I am sure, but the system probably isnt. Thats why mendo suggested the spray for my matrix. Sorry.

Lysol is NOT an air freshener (only) but a good anti microbial disinfectant that claims to kill 90%+ of most common bacteria

Also…. NOT all molds are hazardous to humans or asthmatics

If your smart is not sending you into anaphylactic shock or seizures I would tend to treat this post is a warning to think about, but certainly not worthy of any “sky is falling”, knee jerk, over reaction

Every one of our cars with A/C is reported to have varying degrees of annoying or foul smells... this smell folks, is directly caused by MOLD on the condenser and air handler ducting

I have not seen one report of any health issue driving this car in the 10+ years it has been on the road

Not one report of Legionnaires disease or death

Relax

And the Lysol process is a good idea

Or go buy a few of the $35 filters...

Checked ours, which has been in since April, and no mold. Not very dirty either. Gave it a Hoover and put it back in.

I understand, but I rather err on the side of safety...

evaporator...but I know what you meant...no harm done

and if the sky is going to fall I hope it hits my neighbor's Hummer

I've got a solution to the potential mold problem...

Don't use the A/C...open your windows and/or put your top down!

(yeah i know...winter's coming!)

That does nothing for the lack of airflow in the duct work and moisture buildup caused by lack of air flow is what causes this problem.
Everybody knows the world will end if we use the AC to dehumidify lol.
