Cabrio rattles

my cabrio is beginning to rattle from the top area after about 100 miles. Anyone with more mileage have anything to report?

Go get it checked out while the warranty is still in place. Remember, it's only good for 2Yrs/ 24,000 miles. :-)

have it looked at, it has been noted on some of the UK boards and is a simple snap/fix. I have 1600 km on mine and its fine ... james

Great, thanks for the help. I have to take it back anyway for a new windshield, mine has a flaw in the glass. I will have them look at it then.

Hello - did you or the dealer ever determine the source of the rattle? I started hearing a rattle in my new cabrio roof (right rear me thinks) after a few hundred miles. Depending on how bumpy the road is, it can be constant or intermittant.

Our Cabrio hasn't made any rattles in the roof area, but has kept silent for the first several hundred miles. There is a lot of "stuff" that works the top and it could be anything. I'm thinkin it ain't rocket surgery, and ya can probably take a look back there yerself and set things right. Make yer wife lay in the cargo area whilst ya drive down a nice washboard gravel road at the speed o' heat.... This will shorten the paths to both tightening the right thingee AND to divorce court....

I'm jus sayin....

The only convertibles I've been in that don't have some sort of rattle are BMWs and Mercedes. Basically those that retail for more than double a completely fully loaded smart cabrio. I'd take it to the dealer though and get them to look at it... but expect rattles - its a convertible, they pretty much do that.

+1. I've owned a convertible of some type for 20 years from a Jeep to vw to my '07 C70 hard top convertible. They all have had their quirks (ok, maybe not @ 100 miles). Turn the radio up or put the top down! ;)

Yeah, 100 miles is a little early, it shouldn't start that until at least 150. Actually, depending on how the top works something could just be loose and need to be tightened down. The original poster should take it in for service... I'd suggest Tuesday or Wednesday to help ensure the dealer service isn't busy and apt to brush you off... They shouldn't be prepping too many deliveries or otherwise distracted.
