Cabrio roof...which is it?

OK, so now I am confused. Did I purchase the right products to clean/protect my cabrio roof?

Is the roof cloth or vinyl? Will I need to purchase the Smartcare kit from Canada/Mercedes site, or will my new products from Raggtopp work? Can someone recommend a brush which works on the roof (if I don't get the Smartcare kit?)

Will I need to waterproof it every so often?

No need to panic!

I've been a rag top guy for years and here's a link that might be of assistance.
Convertible Top Care - Autopia.org

I agree with 100% of his advice.

Cheers,

WOW! how confusing.....i never gave it a thought about any 'special cleaning and care' for the top.

maybe i better re-think my decision to order a Cabriolet and configure a Passion instead.....

CLOTH.

While it may have some synthetic fibers definately cloth. I am ISO the smartcare kit but if all else fails will pick up something from a stateside supplier. It must have some form of (re)waterproofing in the clean/protect process.

As for those who think this now makes the cabrio too much work and are rethinking their decision, cabrio or passsion - go with the cabrio as it is just too much fun. It is so versatile as it can be a sunroof or a convertible all with the touch of a switch at highway speeds.

What's not to like about a cabrio?

Top back, sun is out, gotta go!

One of the first things I did to our cabrio was to Scotch-guard it. It has made it so much easier to just hose off. Did the seats too.

I wouldn't trade my cabrio for a hardtop...and I never had a cabrio before in any other car b/c my hair would fly around too much (sometimes I am such a girly girl.) I'll tell ya, something about the design you get the best of all worlds...free air and sky, flexibility by having the top up all the way or part-way, quick up/down, and my hair really doesn't move that much..

Once my simple question is answered about the care of the top, it'll be taken care of. Problem solved. And it's really not a problem. Don't freak out....

Now I just gotta wait for my Raggtopp order to come in so I can return it for the cloth version...

Anyone worry about someone cutting into it and taking stuff out of your car? My old GF had one and she had to replace the top 3 times while we dated over the course of 2 years. She got to the point of not replacing the radio because it would get stolen. Thats what scared me into not getting the Cabrio.

Life is a gamble - if you worry about all the stuff that might happen you and/or your smart you wouldn't get out of bed in the morning.

If our cabrio was violated (and we do have the factory alarm) we would call our insurance agent and get it fixed - besides, who would want that not so awsome PREMIUM Radio 10?

Now, if I had an upgraded system I would advise my agent of the upgrade $$$s and make sure that I was covered for the new system replacement but I still would not worry.

Reminds me of a song, Don't Worry . . .

I dunno. I see what you are saying, but when stuff like that happens to our only car, its gut wrenching. I wonder if its cheaper to replace the cloth top rather than a window though? I like sunroofs, they help get the heat out before you turn the AC on. I kinda wish the passion had one.
