FYI, as posted on Autopia.org
Re: Scotchgard and convertible top
Just talked to a Q.A. rep at 3M....apparently they are trying to get their name brand (ScotchGard) pulled from Daimler-Chrysler's manuals, as they've had instances of this before

Now I'm just waiting to hear back from the manufacturer of the TwillFast top (Haartz) to see if they are aware of any issues or know how to get this stuff out.

You could just roll the window down

Cabrio or SMART in general=lifestyle reassessment and possible change. Gone are the days when I kept my entire life in a vehicle. is this a BAD thing. I say "no". It is about simplifying my life, smaller, simpler is better. You are generally keeping honest people honest anyway with ANY vehicle, convertible or not, even with the very best security system. geesh, what have you got in there, gold? If they break in, take my Smart, well, I have insurance. I will survive. It is a posession. There will be karmic restitution, so to speak. By not leaving anything in plain sight I am also helping those who might be tempted to break in. Plus I get to enjoy my time while driving in no other way before (and I had a Mini Cooper!) Slow, scenic drives, top down, music of my choice playing, smiling while others smile back. It is not about fear and it is not about me dying with the most toys. That's why I chose a cabrio....

And with your karmic explanation we now understand the Pink Vespa - have a mellow afternoon.
