I work all weekend!

I am bringing the car in Monday after work, so they can look at it Tuesday.

Dropped off the car last night, got a call today from Service tech saying they have been working with global solutions and they are going to order new roof cables, they are thinking the roof cables got stretched. Need to confirm part numbers and than going to see if anyone in the US dealer network has any, otherwise need to order them from overseas.

I got a service car though... 2009 Smart Fortwo Pure w/ A/C. No radio, no nothing! A little different coming from a 09 Cab w/ comfort package.

If I ever have to drop my cabrio off for service, I wonder if I can talk them into a Mercedes loaner car instead of a Pure....

I just got an update on the car.

Roof cables aren't the issue, as they ordered some from Germany and they measured out to be the same length. So they ordered a new rear cassette today, that hopefully will be here tomorrow or Monday, and I should get my car back for sure by next Tuesday.

Update again!

Wrong parts came in this time, so they are getting the right parts and hopefully installing the rear cassette Wednesday so the car SHOULD be done Wednesday.

Well.. I followed up at 5:00 today since I hadn't heard, and I called and they told me service was closed for the evening, so I requested to talk to the manger. Of course I get put on hold and my employer calls me so I had to take that call, in the meantime the service tech called me back telling me they are staying after to work on my car, but don't except it to get done tonight, or by tomorrow. He said he is going to follow up with me in the morning. Everything is going well though, no problems with the install, just time consuming I guess...

I really want my Cabriolet back! its been such nice weather here while I've had this Pure...

Friday afternoon update:

So... They really want to get the car out of their shop but...

They got the top installed but they didn't like the way it was operating so they had been in touch with Germany Thursday afternoon and Friday and the guy that they had been working with who know alot about the softtops will be back Monday so they want to touch base with him before they release the car to me.
So another weekend of driving a radioless pure.

BTW: I told the service tech that he really needs to install a radio into their loaner car and he told me its not up to him, but its up to management and they don't want to spend the money on one for it... Yikes!

They don't need to spend money! If the Smart Center installs aftermarket stereos or nav units, they have pulls from other cars which can be used in the loaners.
