Cal pop top

I bought a California Pop Top in advance of my Smartie arriving. Now that Smartie is here, i put the Pop Top on her, it was great until i realized where it would be tied off at - right under the tail gate where the engine cooling vents are, i am concerned about it melting
My question is am i doing it right - has anyone else bought a Pop Top, if so would you mind showing a pic of the Pop Top tied down at the tail gate......thanks in advance...

You should be able to tie off under the lic. plate.

I tie mine off in the window hatch and close the window glass on the drawstring.

California Pop Top

I've used one for months. I Cinch it up under the tailgate the as directed and have had no problems with a burning or melting cord. You can't cinch it under the license plate and have it fit properly. I don't follow the instructions that call for locking up the cord. I really don't need the security. There are times I'll roll up the cord and stuff it under the elastic rear end of the Pop Top. If I'm lazy, I'll just let the cord hang off the back of rear bumper so it drops to the ground.

Because the black interior sunshade soaks up solar heat, I use the Pop Top to keep the interior cool. It also keeps the dirt and dust off the polycarbonate top so I don't have to use Plexis on the roof that often and it's way faster to put on than a traditional car cover. I've put on enough car covers to know.

That's the way I do mine too - the drawstring is all inside the car that way with nothing hanging out. I've had mine now for about 6 months, washed it in the machine a couple of times, it works great. - sheureka

Q: Could or could not do that with the way the cabrio top closes?

I have a cabrio - it works great with the top closed or halfway open. Won't work with the top fully open.

And here's the company - Car Covers, Car Sun Shades - California PopTop. The smart takes a size 18. - sheureka
