I didn't think it was legal to force an aftermarket warranty - federal or state laws. My contract (non orphan) specifically said the warranty wasn't required to complete the sale. Likewise, credit life coverage isn't required for the warranty itself.
I'm in Alabama and bought my car in Texas. Laws may differ per state, but you may want to check the fine print on that contract. If the dealer/salesperson is telling you something other than what's in print:
1) Call them on it.
If they insist...
1) Walk away.
2) Inform Smart USA of deceptive practices. Dealer will be in a world of hurt.
Almost every contract can be cancelled within 3 days (30 days for my Smart warranty). Still, don't rely on post-purchase cancellation if that's the only way to get your car.
Unlike warranties, Lojack is physically installed. You can negotiate with them to remove it, but both sides must agree as that's extra labor.
