Can You Pick Up a smart ??

A friend of mine swears he saw this with his own eyes....

While in a parking lot, he saw a bunch of teenagers walk past a smart, then picked it up and turned it around in it's parking space. He waited for the owner to come out, and when she did, all she said was, "Not again !!"

When I countered that the smart is kinda heavy and damn near everything "grabbable" is made of plastic, I doubt it happened. He swears he saw it.

I called it BS.

Anybody ever see this happen ?

In High School 6 of us picked up a MG and turned it into the inside corner of a building so the teacher could not pull forward or backwards, so I am sure it could be done on Smart Car

I can think of two explanations:

1) Check with your friend and see if one of the kids had black hair, blue eyes, and a letterman's jacket that said "Smallville High." The last name on the back may have said Kent.

2) Does your friend have white skin, green hair, smile a lot, and have a really annoying laugh? Comes from Gotham City? His name's something like The Kidder...?

In all seriousness - it weighs 1,800 LBS. If you get enough people - yes, it can be picked up. That being said, you'd have to get hold of it by the wheels or some other actual structure - the panels are not going to hold up to being lifted by.

we used to bounce them when we couldn't just pick them up in the old days (not smarts)

I was able to pick up the back-end of my mother-in-laws Chevette about 8-10 inches and hold it for a minute. geez maybe that's why I needed back surgery a few years ago

Anybody ever see this happen ?

It happened to me, my car was rotated 90 degrees in a space with two cars on either side while at Iowa State. I was able to get out of the position without the other cars having to move.

I didn't take photos of this because I was .

It is possible...now lets move on so this doesn't become an idea for others to keep doing.
