4 of us used to pick up an MG in high school and move it in to the middle of the road... the girl that owned it would get paged over the PA at school "Stephanie please move your car out of the middle of the road"....lol... she stopped driving that car after a few weeks... her dad sold it and bought her a 4x4 truck...lol

It is possible...now lets move on so this doesn't become an idea for others to keep doing.
I agree, the day I come out to my car and see someone trying to pick it up and turn it is the day I go to jail....

If you search in the forums then you've probably seen a few posts about people picking up smarts and turning them around, tipping them over, etc. To me it seems like a good prank, but not if you tip it over. So yes its possible.

Until I see a non-photoshopped video of it being done, I still think it's urban legend material.

The statistics just don't pan out.... Vehicle weighs 1,852 lbs.(cabrio, empty, nothing in the trunk, etc.). The only area strong enough in which to lift is by the alloy wheels. The rest of the car is plastic. Front bumper ? Wrapped in plastic. Rear bumper ? Wrapped in plastic. Wheel wells/running boards ? Plastic. Lift by any of those and you'll be standing there holding plastic. Hell, we need special "tricks" just to jack up the car to change a wheel without causing damage. (hockey puck, anyone ?)

Now, back to the wheels. By the sheer size of them, that means one person per wheel.

Unless you get a bunch of teenagers on a 'roid-rage, ain't no WAY 4 kids can pick up 463 lbs. EACH and WALK with it !! Not to mention the severe cuts on their fingers from lifting so much weight and the sharp backside of the spokes digging into flesh.

Best case scenario: 2 kids per wheel, but they can only muster using one arm each because of the small wheels. That's still 231 lbs. PER arm, each kid working in unison. Ready.....step. Ready.....step.

C'mon.....

I'm guessing the wheel wells are just plastic and would be damaged, but if they grabbed the wheels they could rotate the whole car. A friend of mine threatened to do that on my first week with the car, and he said he didn't try it because he didn't want to get his hands dirty. Glad he had SOME priorities.

Would have been funny if he'd tried it, though - the alarm is SHRILL.

Don't try this at home.

throw a few 2X6s under the body and put 5 people on each side. Isn't this how Celine Dion gets carried into a show??

Some of the firemen in my dept. tried that once during our Xmas party. They managed to move it back a few feet. Later they commented on how heavy it was. So as to the 'teenagers turned it around' idea: possible, but unlikely since, as others have pointed out, the car is heavier than it looks and there's no easy way to lift it up sans 2x4's placed underneath the car, etc. And it might take some really strong teens, and I'd guess at least 4 - 6 of them.

6 teens that can each squat-lift 300 lbs with relative ease... they wouldn't push themselves like a bodybuilding competition just for a prank. So how many teens can lift 400+ lbs? I could probably do 50. But, then, I'm a geek...

Some smarties make it really easy by adding bumpers, tow hitch etc. Gives the wee darlings something solid to grasp onto.
