Somewhere in this forum, there is info. re. the use of Scotchguard. Test it first to be certain that the fabric is colorfast.

Amen

My VUE is 6 years old... no eating/drinking allowed still (except bottles of water). The smart's gonna be even stricter.

I thought about being strict about food and drink, but I hate to be the growling bear "stay away from my car", and kids will be kids. The Scotch guard is a great idea if you can still by the stuff (I thought they got rid of it years ago).

We love our blue/silver w/ red interior passion coupe. The interior really looks great w/ the blue exterior & everyone that sits in it thinks it is a great color combination. It is not really a true red though, much more orange than I would have liked (but is does work). I don't let anyone eat in my Honda, however my wife is not so tough with our 9 year old son in the smart. Like my wife says; "It is just a car". Of course her orphan's interior was protected by the dealership (at extra cost & warrantied for 7 years) which might not of been a bad thing....lol

Kids are a while off for me, if I have any.

At any rate, even if I had a $500 beater, it could never be "just a car." I worked for a Saturn dealer for 4 years while I was in college, let me tell you - it amazes me how poorly many people seem to treat their cars. It really makes you think about the line between a car being just a tool to some people, and for those of us who are real enthusiasts, it being like a member of the family.

I sure wish I could have passed that onto my middle daughter. I gave her my old '95 Saturn for college and she never cleans it and the interior looks awful. She maintains it, but just treats the interior like she treated her room when she lived at home...lol. My oldest girl is very good about taking care of her car. I guess the "car guy" gene skips children!

I have to admit, mine is rather cluttered at the moment. Not dirty... just cluttered - a couple of (clean) shirts, an extra pair of shoes, paperwork for work, a messenger bag, a few empty water bottles. Nothing that couldn't be straightened up in a few minutes, but quite frankly, working 60+ hours a week right now is not conducive to keeping it 100% tidy.
