Can't find info about the sunroof in other posts...help?!?

I am getting the drift that it is smarter to go with the solid roof than the sunroof...am i right?

Because it sounds like you end up having difficulties with the sun screen breaking, or it gets to hot in the car and the AC doesn't hardly help at full throttle?

sorry about the multiple posts throughout the day! I just have to know the answers though! you know?

Both are plastic roofs. Both have heating issues. I have the polycarbonate roof and for me it's great. The A/C is small and needs more capacity but is adequate for cabin comfort once you learn how to operate it. Take your pick!!

Depends on where you live and your expectations. Where I am the panorama roof is something I really like and would buy again for many that has not been the case.
Depends on you

There is no 'smart' answer. It all depends on where you live, how you use the car, and your personal sensitivity to temperature.

I live in the Mojave Desert.

During July and August, our daily temperatures average 95-105F.

I have a panoramic roof with the sunshade.

the sunshade is lame: it blocks some light and heat, but not all light and heat.

also the sunshade can break or malfunction somewhat easily.

but, the air conditioning in my smart works well.

i am cool and comfortable in the desert.

maybe, smart will make a smarter sunscreen for the panoramic roof.

it would be good if they did.

No offense, but you seem to want to parse the car item by item...
I have a Passion. Yes, I have an issue with the sunshade. No, I have had no problems keeping the cabin cool even in 90+ temps here in Pittsburgh. The A/C works fine and under 84 or so, leaving the windows open is perfectly adequate.

IMHO, here in middle TN my AC works fine, the screen blocks a great deal of light and heat, but I don't like sunroofs. I have had them since the 80's and when they have a solid shade I keep them closed. I don't like the feel of the heat on my head - and I do have hair up there. It is my preference that if I could have ordered mine without I would have. I also would hope that if it didn't have one that they could put a headlner in and some thin insulation so that it would be more comfortable, but as I said - that is my opinion.

The new 2009 model passions offer clear roof standard-
you can request a hard roof at no savings-
I enjoy looking up at the sights (birds, clouds, etc)
there are covers if heat becomes a problem (not a UV issue)

For about $8.00 -

You can buy a big truck windshield sunscreen, cut it down and stick it above the pano sunscreen. Works wonders here in FL. I use it plus the one for the windshield when the sun's out full blast. This fall and winter I'll remove the pano roof sunscreen and roll it up for storage - then I can take advantage of the clear roof feature.

Well worth the $8 I spent and 15 minutes to cut and fit it. . .
