Subslr, Good solution! I'll stop by a truck stop this week and get one.

Do you remember the cut dimensions ? Also some tips on installation would be appreciated. Did you install from front or rear?

As the roof seems to be failure prone I want to diddle with it as little as possible.

Thanks for the post. A2Jack.

Several months ago, I followed another poster's suggestion and bought the jumbo windshield screen at Walmart for about $7. (You'll see when you cut it that it's sort of like stiff bubble wrap that's aluminized on both sides.) You need to cut it roughly in half (I just measured the length and cut it. The other dimension, which would be the height of the windshield if you were using it for its original purpose is pretty darn close to the width of the panorama roof.) I then put the sunshade back about 1/3 of the way and slid it in from the front and then pulled the shade closed. Because the corners are rounded it's not an absolutely perfect "press" fit, but it does a good job of keeping out the heat.

Because it sounds like you end up having difficulties with the sun screen breaking, or it gets to hot in the car and the AC doesn't hardly help at full throttle?

sorry about the multiple posts throughout the day! I just have to know the answers though! you know?

It's funny how so many people talk about the A/C in this car as being inadequate. I live where it routinely gets up over 100. I'm an overly hot person in general and I run my A/C almost every time I'm in the car. After awhile I have to bump up the temperature because it's too cold on the lowest setting. Maybe the difference is in the cabrio roof.

Being old enough to remember, [ after all, the wheel was invented during my lifetime LOL] cars used to not come with heaters, radios, etc. standard. All were optional. At that time, higher end cars like Cadillac's, Imperial's, Lincoln's, Buick's, etc. gave you the option of deleting the radio, the heater, the power seats, the power windows, or other items that were optional on economy cars. Some people considered these items unnecessary or problem prone. The term used was "zero delete option", meaning that you could delete it, but you rarely received a credit (reduction in price) for doing so from the manufacturer or dealer.

I also did the large auto cloth sun screen from Wal-mart also, no cutting needed, just slide between screen and roof, works great. Air Conditional work fine on my car. get the roof.... I imagine pretty soon it will probably be not available

For Lynchburg...

You'll be fine! In Virginia it's the humidity, not the heat. I'd suggest a good windshield reflector or sun cap to avoid having to park under trees (we hate bird poop ).

Buy the Pure, no problem with the air cooling off the car and no extra heat coming in from above.

I enjoy windows down over A/C when ever possible,

so I was disapointed with the bufferenting wind noise (same on most new vehicles) when windows are in open position.
If you drive with windows closed there is no source of cool outside air so it gets stuffy fast.

I did find if I opened the Smart rear window atleast 6" the anoying noise from buffeting air goes away while traveling down the road.

I do not think I could drive my Smart with out A/C for these reasons.
