Farmers

I checked with my agent here in WA and they are insuring Smarts here. Rate for me would be about $375/6 mo. Not too bad.

The official smart insurance partner... Liberty Mutual... gave me full coverage for $417 a year in California. Then for my homeowner's insurance they were 1/3 to 1/2 less than other companies. Liberty Mutual is a great company.

I got a call from Dallas Smart yesterday telling me my car came in Tues the 8th on a truck with 70 cars! It will be ready for pick-up this coming Monday the 14th. No warning, no 30 days out call or email from Smart USA or the Dealer. So beware..I'm a 1200, some dallas buyers who order after me have already taken delivery from this same center??? Insurance? I called Geico today and they said they are offering full coverage on '08 Smarts made for the USA, but not for grey market smarts. I gave them the VIN and I'm good to go. I have three other cars and two other drivers on the policy already $319.40/6 months. I can pick the car up on Monday and that is when the insurance starts.

Sorry to hear about IDS!
I got a good quote from State Farm. I have 2 other cars, as well as home, personal liability and a jewelry policy. I can't remember what it was, but perhaps around $40 a month more? This is a pretty high-rate area...

I insure our vehicles through MetLife, (the result of a group deal before I retired from GTE), and while they had a little problem at first, with the VIN they very promptly covered "Charlie" and lowered my rates from the Santa Fe that we dropped from the policy. Great rates, great service. I've been with them for 10 years with no claims, no tickets so we get extremely good rates. It's not required to be part of a group to insure with them. If you're shopping, give them a try.

I just checked out Liberty Mutual - and for me the quote was more than $1000/yr over what Geico quoted me! Insurance pricing is almost as weird as airline ticket pricing.
