Car performance

I want to know the hard facts. I want to know what the smart car gets in the quarter mile time. I havent driven the car but ive been to the track many times. NOO im not planning on racing a smart car but i can estimate the car based on the 1/4 mile time.

With that being said, I have driven an array of cars down the track and i want to know the time that the smart gets. A stock gt mustang gets between 15-16 seconds. my nova gets an 11.5(THE BEAST) and my truck gets an 18.5(OL' BETSY).

So when i read about a car and its perfomance spec i can estimate what it would be like before i drive it.

I live near san francisco and i am there quite a bit working and visiting family. If any one of you has ever been there, you know that the hills can kill a car.

I have seen what the car gets with every engine but the 1 litre. I understand what the car is and dont expect it to be anything more than a $12,000 1 litre car.

God by reading my writing it seems as if i have to put sh** kickers on the go to work. haha

I am buying one and dont know why anyone wouldnt in my position. But you know? Im curious! whats the 1/4 mile time??? i hope its under 30 seconds. haha

Because the smart car is equiped with a space-folding warp drive, it can actually SKIP the first quarter mile and arrive before it leaves and thus return a negative value for quarter mile time. If you do if for the first few months you have your smart you can actually get it a couple of years ago. However, since you don't already have one I am led to beleive that you are not going to get one. Sorry.

All your sh** kickers are belong to us!

the haha

Not sure I understand the value of the 1/4 mile time for this car; 0-60 is around 13 seconds so you'll need a calendar to measure the 1/4. The car is what it is - a 70 (or is it 71) hp urban commuter. And all you can really tell about a car using its 1/4 mile time is what it's like in a straight line; no indication of how it drives or handles. Having said all that I'm sure somebody will find a way to fit drag radials on the rear and see what they'll do.

Oh jezzzzzzzz what hilarious exchanges!!! Really makes me laugh! Snakefarm, you missed your calling if you are not a shrink or a comedian!! LOL Don't take that to heart, though. I just get the damndest kick out of some of the responses on here. I am almost obsessed with this forum infact.....That will change once I get my car.
Cratesampscal.....take *The Beast* and set your accel rate to 0-60 in 13 sec. (that may take a few tries to get right) on a back street someplace. Then measure the distance in feet, (pace it off) divide out to find the accel rate (# of ft/sec, and then divide 1320 by the ft/sec and you should be able to come with # of secs to travel 1320 ft or 1/4 mile. Fish, Ihoboy or one of you other *numbers guys*...help! Is this correct?? Best way I can think of. If nothing else, you'd get to give *the Beast* some mild exercise.
LMAO!! Maybe you should use the truck instead....

Folks, please keep in mind: the Smart speedometer is calibrated in furlongs per fortnight.

Since it IS built as a city car I'd imagine the low end would be the strongest. So scootin' up and down the hills of San Fran should be no problem. There are lots of residents getting their cars soon in that area so you'll prolly see posts here in that regard.

And you could hook up the gang mowers to a bumper hitch and trim the fairways while you're up! Maybe get reduced greens fees!

1/4 time is in the low 7's if you drive it off a cliff. You will need a chute to slow it down at the end of the run though.

If you are planning on driving minimum time for every quarter mile jaunt you set out for, please be aware that you will acheive <28 mpg. This is discerned from the european forums
