Hitting a car and hitting a wall are very different things.

It is very possible that it was a lower speed as the air bags did not deploy. The damage is still extensive if it was in fact less than posted.

This was a low speed ACCIDENT, I don't think my daughter was out to kill anyone, lets not get extreme here. The point was that the xB MAY not be any safer than the smart when it comes to transporting children in a car seat.

sorry for the misunderstanding i wasn't saying she was out to do harm, i was just pointing out how terrible she would feel if she did cause harm, or anyone for that matter who caused an accident. i think the smart is safe, but i do admit i would feel weird putting a child in the front seat. i guess it just been implanted in my head that kids shouldn't ride up front.

I'm just glad the Smart is engineered to accomodate a child seat. I used to go to kindergarden in the 1970s in my mom's Porsche 911.. and my boys love weekend rides in my 914. I'm sure they will also enjoy rides in the Smart!

Lets not forget to *think* instead of just enjoying all the cool-aid our government feeds us! ;)

15 is Illinois' driving age! (learner's permit)

A little bit of a newer IL. law.

Children 7 and under sitting in the rear of the vehicle are not required to wear a safety belt.

You can see that even though the xB was hit low it bent the frame and buckled the passenger compartment (left rear door).
Scions are generally a low quality, a friend owns a new one and she has to constantly take it to the service department because the power steering ruptured or the tranny is grinding or even that there is a small gas leak.
The dealer says that they were designed to be a sort of "build your own street legal street racer".

The problem is, Toyota designed the Scion brand to be geared towards teens but their vehicles are not too safe.
