Paul c, I pulled this info from the Bimmer forum and they have said it is almost impossible to track the cars on NYK Line. The best we can hope to do is track the ship. However, someone on the forum said that their dealer told them which ship their car was on I think they said "Global Leader". So if the dealer can give you the ship that your car is on then we have a little more info. I have the ability to track the location of the ships underway.

how does one use this to track? The new west coast NYE doesn't offer any location for a VIN?

tivoboy, someone in another thread mentioned that their dealer told them what ship their car was on. With this info I can track the location of the ship.

Can anyone think of any reason why a car that ultimately should arrive in Indianapolis would be coming into any other port BUT Baltimore? I'm still unsuccessful in tracking my car and I've had her VIN # since 2/27 so I'm looking for alternative explanations as to where she might be.

for me, it took a little more than 2 weeks in between I was given the VIN# and to show on the Wallenius site. Now I know mine arrived in Baltimore on 2/17 and was discharged on 2/18 - if only I knew where my car is at the moment, i'd be happy! It's been more than 3 weeks now. I am wondering what is going on...

Do you have a good dealership? I have a great advocate, Meaux61, who has gone the extra mile for all us Indy buyers to check out local options and keep those folks at the dealership on their toes. While she's just an owner (like I hope to be!) she's been adamant that I continue to rattle the cage of my dealership. So, to honor my smartie mentor, "Have you called the dealership?" When I've been in touch with mine I've gotten words like "soon" so I feel your pain if you've already been down that road.

Meaux and I have a photo op on April 6. Our opportunity to have our new babies immortalized in print.... but it may be just Meaux. Which, while it would be lovely to have a baby picture in the paper, I don't think my little one will be sharing the photo with Meaux's little Passion if the shipping situation is indicative of our status.

Listen to SmartnTiny. My smart was in the same shipment as yours. The dealership recieved it last Tuesday but DID NOT CALL ME!! I happened to call on Friday and lo and behold, it was there. I picked it up on Monday 3/3. Call your dealership and MAKE THEM CHECK WHERE IT IS.

Thank you - Great info regarding ship movements...

My baby is on Global Leader (got the info from the dealer) she'll be in Long Beach 3/14 - should have her within two weeks... I'm an 1190...;)

*** FOLLOW UP - received her EXACTLY 2 weeks to the day - 3/28 ***

Is that right? Will that site offer the same information the east coast people have with Wallenius Wilhelmsen site?

Meaux,
Was yours on the Vessel Courage that arrived in Baltimore on 2/17/08?
I am wondering what has happened to my little Cabrio... Here's the email that my dealer sent me:

Hello Amethyste,

We did get 10 cars in today, but unfortunately yours was not in this shipment. I’m really sorry it is taking so long, I wish I could call you with good news. I’m not sure when the next shipment is, but you know I will call ASAP!!! At least it won’t take 8-10 months! We’ll call when we get a heads up on your Cabriolet. Have a good day!

Patricia

Why is there so little knowledge as when the cars have been loaded on the trucks to go to the dealers? I asked them that question and they told me that there is no way for them to know - the cars "just show up"...
